Hijo del Santo Does Radio Interview In Tabasco

Hijo del Santo did a radio interview for ABC Radio in Tabasco yesterday and talked about various subjects for about 40 minutes including his paintings and his wrestling career although his current situation with Paco Alonso wasn’t brought up. Something that was brought up though was the surge in popularity of Mistico and who he thought could the heir to his throne of the greatest wrestler in Mexico and Santo said that he doesn’t even consider himself worthy to even have that title. He said that he is only the worthy heir of his father’s name and that he has done some good things in the business over the last 25 years and that he tells it like it is hoping the fans will understand him but there is no one that can touch him in that regard. He mentioned Mistico, Octagon, Super Muneco, Vampiro, & others over the years was touted by the press and some promoters as people that would pass him by but he is still on top of his game and some of those guys can’t say the same. Santo went on to say that he is very fortunate to have a stable career along with the adoration by the fans and he isn’t envious of any other wrestler but he knows that one day there will be someone that overtake him as the biggest name in Mexico and welcomes that challenge. Santo was then asked about how much longer he thought he could still wrestle and he gave himself 15 more years if his body can hold on that long.

Luchadores Speak Out About Santo

Some luchadores spoke out today about the Paco Alonso/Hijo del Santo situation that I posted about yesterday and some interesting stuff here.

Atlantis: “This will be a problem for Hijo del Santo because if this ban sticks then the competition level for him would suffer.”

Blue Demon Jr.: “I seem to think that this could be more than just a business problem but a personal problem considering Santo’s stance on bringing in his nephew Axel and hopefully for business’ sake it will be resolved soon.”

Canek: “I believe that Hijo del Santo is a great wrestler and can find work anywhere for any promoter that wants to meet his price.”

Villano III: “Promoters should allow wrestlers to work where they want to work regardless of who is on a card if it is an independently run promotion and not against any card with an interest by EMLL.”

Kenzo Suzuki Signs With AAA

Big news out of Mexico is that EMLL President Paco Alonso has decided that he won’t work with Hijo del Santo anymore and has banned EMLL contracted wrestlers from working on any show that Hijo del Santo is on like the old Konnan rule. The reason for this is because supposedly Santo is aligning with some promoters in Monterrey who are planning to run around the country as a national group and Paco views this as competition. Paco doesn’t want his guys aligning with people who he considers enemies but what this is coming down to as far as the wrestlers go is who would they rather work a card with, Santo or Mistico. Mistico is the #1 draw in EMLL obviously but Santo is the #1 draw period in Mexico and with wrestlers being all about the cash, would some of the guys in EMLL consider working a show with Santo or Mistico in the same city for the extra money. In fact, Loco Max was read the riot act the other day by high ranking officials in EMLL because he worked a show that Santo was headlining. Jesus Alvarado (Brazo de Oro) is the head of the wrestlers union and also a key official in EMLL so if something like this happened where the wrestlers would be squeezed, how would he handle the situation considering his job with EMLL.

A little backstory to this is that Santo has been quite critical of EMLL lately regarding their booking of Mistico and the talk of bringing in his nephew Axel, who he has a lot of problems with. Santo said the main reason though behind not working for EMLL lately is the money issue and that they think that he isn’t worth what he wants to be paid to work Arena Mexico shows. Santo said that they started offering him less money even though whenever he works Arena Mexico, the attendance goes up and it doesn’t make sense to him. Santo has said recently that he wanted EMLL to quit having a tournament for the Leyenda de Plata since he owns the image and won’t give them permission to use it and make money off his family’s name. Santo said that he would never work for just one promoter as he is an independent contractor and that it’s the way that he wants because he can dictate whatever he wants to. Santo said that EMLL isn’t the only game in town and Arena Mexico isn’t the only place to watch lucha libre and that he wants the fans to go to local shows and experience different styles of lucha libre. Keiji Muto Returns To Japan

All-Japan President Keiji Muto returned to Japan today after a successful trip to the United States where he secured a talent sharing deal with TNA and said that other than Kurt Angle, the guy he wants to come to All-Japan the most is Sting. Muto said that Sting is one of his closest friends in the business and he considers their feud in 1989 to be one of the best he’s ever had and after their feud was over, one of the best tag partners he’s had. Muto said that Sting brings out the best in him in the ring when they’re together and would love to face him in a match or tag up with him very soon.

All-Japan Strikes Deal With TNA

All-Japan President Keiji Muto struck up a deal with TNA representatives this weekend to share talent, which could start as early as next month. Since the deal with New Japan fell through, Muto was able to make a deal and said that he can’t wait for All-Japan to send wrestlers to TNA and TNA wrestlers to come into All-Japan. Muto also said that he would like to wrestle Kurt Angle whenever he comes back to Japan.

4. Barbed Wire Board Death Match: Ryuji Ito/Abdullah Kobayashi/Shadow WX beat Jun Kasai/Naoki Numazawa/Saburo Inematsu in 20:25 when Ito used the Dragon Splash on a board on Inematsu. Ito got a warm greeting in his return and vowed to once again win the BJPW Death Match Title for the fans.

Heavy Metal Speaks Candidly About Many Subjects

Heavy Metal gave an interview today where he talked about being grateful to EMLL for changing his life and turning him away from the style of life he was leading before going back home. Heavy said that he has opened up a chain of stores selling rock clothing and music geared towards the youth and they are doing really well. Heavy said that he wants to open up a dance studio soon saying that he wants to teach kids how to dance different styles and just give back to the fans. Heavy then went on to talk about his brothers Felino & Negro Casas saying that going back to EMLL and working with them regularly has stabilized him and has matured him both in and out of the ring because they are his big brothers and kept him in line. Heavy said that each one of them are different in their own way but they are still the sons of Pepe Casas and will always have that bond. Heavy went on to talk about how he once was very lazy in the ring but over the past couple of years working for EMLL has raised his game up where he not only gives 100% but 150% every night no matter if it’s a televised show or not. Heavy then talked about title belts saying that they are great to have as a measurement of where you are at but it isn’t the only thing on his mind right now. Heavy closed by saying that he plans on staying single until he retires because he really doesn’t want to have a wife while maintaining a work schedule but knows that there will be a day that he does tie the knot.

I haven't updated the blog in 3 months due to laziness you could say but i figured now is the time to kick it back in high gear. Kenta Kobashi Returns To The Ring

Kenta Kobashi returned to the ring for the first time in 168 days today at Nippon Budokan Hall to a tremendous ovation and told the crowd that his rehabilitation is coming along nicely and his training regiment is getting back to what it was before his surgery. Kobashi told the fans that he doesn’t know when he will return to action but it will be very soon and he can’t wait do what he loves again.

New Japan Gets TV Asahi Slot For Dome Show

New Japan announced today that not only would the Tokyo Dome show on 1/4 be broadcast on PPV but TV Asahi will give them a 70:00 slot from 1:10 to 2:20 AM right after the show ends.

Go Shiosaki stated today that he is dedicating his match against Takeshi Morishima on 12/10 at Nippon Budokan Hall to his teacher Kenta Kobashi who will be making his return to NOAH also on that day. Shiosaki said that he wants Kobashi to see how much he has grown since he had to leave due to his surgery and defeating Morishima will prove that he can hang with the big boys.

Chono/Muto vs. TenKoji Set For 1/4

New Japan officially announced today that Masahiro Chono & Keiji Muto would reunite their team after 9 years to face the most dominant tag team ever in TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) on 1/4 at the Tokyo Dome. Muto said that TenKoji winning the RWTL has made them once again the best tag team in the world but they haven’t beaten him & Chono as a team and what a better stage than to have this dream match at than at the Dome.
