New Japan 8/13 Results
New Japan 8/13 – Sumo Hall in Tokyo drawing 11,000 fans (PPV)
1. Prince Devitt & Minoru Tanaka beat Wataru Inoue & Yujiro Takahashi in 6:28 when Devitt used a brainbuster on Takahashi.
2. G1 Climax – Semifinals: Satoshi Kojima defeated Koji Kanemoto in 15:41 with a lariat.
3. G1 Climax – Semifinals: Hiroyoshi Tenzan beat Giant Bernard in 11:13 with the Anaconda Vice.
4. Gedo/Jado/Jushin Thunder Liger defeated El Samurai/Ryusuke Taguchi/Tiger Mask IV in 11:03 when Jado used the Crossface of JADO on Taguchi.
5. Shiro Koshinaka & Togi Makabe beat Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano in 10:36 when Makabe used a lariat on Ishii.
6. Yuji Nagata & Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Takashi Iizuka & Naofumi Yamamoto in 13:38 when Tanahashi used a Dragon Suplex hold on Yamamoto.
7. Akebono/Manabu Nakanishi/Riki Choshu beat Masahiro Chono/Milano Collection AT/Yoshihiro Takayama in 12:49 when Choshu used a lariat on Milano. Takayama jumped Choshu after the match before being pulled apart and Choshu told him that he wanted to fight him again. Takayama said that he would like to return to New Japan more often and that he liked Akebono as he hopes to face him again but wouldn’t mind forming a team with him.
8. G1 Climax – Finals: Hiroyoshi Tenzan defeated Satoshi Kojima in 27:36 with the Original Tenzan Tombstone Driver to become the first man to go through the G1 without losing a match since Riki Choshu in 1996. Tenzan said after the match that the motivation of beating his former tag partner was great but not as great as the motivation he got from his wife and son this morning who worked him up into a frenzy. Tenzan is looking towards facing Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Title on 9/24 at Osaka Prefectural Gym. Kojima said that facing Tenzan in the finals was the only way it had to be and it was an honor for him to be in the match.
