GHC Heavyweight Title Defended In The US?

GHC Heavyweight Champ Naomichi Marufuji stated today that he will be leaving for the United States this week and he wants to make his first defense of his title in New York City for ROH against Nigel McGuinness on 9/16. Marufuji said that the GHC Heavyweight Title is a worldwide title and that it should defended around the world but he can’t make the decision himself as the GHC committee will make that decision for him this week. NOAH fans are already venting against this idea on fan boards saying that Misawa should be the first challenger for the title since Marufuji promised it yesterday and that Nigel isn’t a worthy challenger to the title. The fans are pretty split on this title change as well as a lot of them are upset that Akiyama didn’t get a chance to defend against Kobashi but there are some that see this change being like a generation change ala Tenryu’s Revolution & Super Generation Army in the All-Japan days.
